Barker’s Marque winemaker, Simon Barker, makes wine that adds texture and balance to the intensity of the world famous Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs. Fermented at cooler temperatures in stainless steel tanks to preserve the aromatic qualities and racked off its lees early to preserve freshness. Produced in an environmentally sound way with minimal intervention between vine and wine.
Barker’s Marque vineyard is half a mile from the sea in Blind River in the Awatere Valley at the southern edge of Marlborough’s wine growing area. The area has a growing reputation for producing fresher, more mineral wines.
