The Quiet Man is the first whiskey to have been casked, blended and bottled in Derry for over 100 years. The whiskey is named after M D Ciaran Mulgrew’s father, John, a popular figure in the Northern Irish bar trade – who worked for 50 years in various Belfast bars, and before that in Cookstown, Co Tyrone.

New to the range in time for Christmas is The Quiet Man ‘An Culchiste’ 12 Year Old and The Quiet Man ‘An Culchiste’ 12 Year Old Sherry Finish.

The Quiet Man ‘An Culchiste' 12 Year Old Single Malt is triple distilled in traditional Irish Pot Stills and matured for 12 years in first fill Bourbon Barrels.

It dispays wonderful citrus and floral fragrances with notes of honey and butterscotch overlying a vanilla and oak bouquet.  Flavours of warm and creamy buttery vanilla.  Exceptionally smooth lingering finish with oak tastes coming beneath the citrus and spice notes.

The Quiet Man ‘An Culchiste’ 12 Year Old Sherry Finish has been finished for approximately 9 months in 500lt Sherry Butts, sourced from Bodegas Garvey. Prior the casks were used to age Oloroso Sherry for 32 years. The initial whiskey has been matured in 1st fill 200Lt Bourbon Barrels for 11 years, with the distillate produced in a copper pot still and made from Irish Malted Barley.

The whiskey is dark red with purple tints, aged sweet Oloroso sherry notes with added vanilla cream. Toasted caramel notes on the palate with lashings of berry fruit, rounded vanilla oak and sweet sherry.  Long and fresh finish, with a hint of warmth.
